The Department of Education and English Language at Bedër University College organized the award ceremony for the best works in the YCEEC contest, organized with high school students.
Dr. Irena Shehu, head of the Department of Education and English Language, emphasized the fact that the quality of the works has increased every year.
Staff members and the students who participated had the opportunity to express their appreciation for the annual organization of this competition, giving young people the opportunity to showcase their skills.
Certificates were then distributed to the participants and winners by category.
NJSBC coordinated the meetings of the External Evaluation Group with the academic staff, working group, and students of the Department of Education and English Language, within the accreditation process for the Professional Master's program in English Language Teaching in two specific profiles: Upper Secondary Education and Lower Secondary Education.
The Dean of Students, in cooperation with the Office of Student Clubs and some of the students of the Department of Education and English Language, organized the International Day on the premises of Bedër University College.
Our international students had the opportunity to show more about the diverse cultures and traditions of the countries they come from, presenting them at their respective stands.
Bedër University College in cooperation with the Albanian Institute of Media organized the next training within the project "Media Education and Information for Future Teachers". The pedagogues of the Education and English Language Department were also present in the training.
Guest at this training was Carolyn Jones, Fulbright program specialist, with a long career in journalism and media education experience, who brought American experience in media and information education and conducted a training session and conversation with participating educators on best practices to involve students and young people in the direction of media education.
During the training, Carolyn Jones discussed key challenges to misinformation in the US media landscape, covering topics such as the weakening of trust in traditional media, the strengthening of conspiracy theories and the characters pushing them in the public debate, and the context of developments politics and how they've influenced the public's trust in the media.
The training ended with a discussion with the educators on education challenges in the country, but also in the global context, especially in the context of technological changes and tendencies of information disorders.
This training is part of the project “Media Education and Information for Future Teachers,” implemented by the Albanian Institute of Media, with financial support from the Public Relations Office of the American Embassy in Albania.
The Department of Education and English Language organized open lectures with Mrs. Arta Dade. The open lectures organized over several days were attended by students of Master of Science in English Language and Literature, students of Professional Master in English Language Teaching, as well as students of the Bachelor Program. The focus of the open lectures was on regional cooperation and Albania's contribution to the region and beyond.
Among the main topics of the lectures were:
• Albania's integration into the EU
• Regional cooperation as a prerequisite for EU integration
• Albania's contribution to NATO
The Center for Sustainable Development and Innovation in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science organized the seminar on the topic: "A life in education!" How to cultivate value for education?", with guest Prof. Dr. Sadije Bushati.
Participants in this activity were students from the Department of Education and English Language, the program Professional Master of English Teaching, and the Department of Computer Science.
Ms. Bushati discussed with the students her challenges and achievements during her journey as an academic in higher education, making a comparison of the opportunities offered to her during the communist regime and those offered today, both for students and academic staff.
Prof. Bushati emphasized that in addition to the challenges presented by the time or the political system in which we live, everyone should make the maximum efforts to turn every difficulty into an advantage and in favor of professional achievements.
Persistence, motivation, and passion for knowledge are very important elements in the journey toward education.
The seminar was closed with questions and discussions of interest from the students.
Quality Assurance Unit together with the Department of Education and English Language organized an informative meeting on 20.01.2023 with the students of education and English language in the framework of the accreditation process for their program. The students were informed about the phases followed for the accreditation of their program.
The Faculty of Technology and Business, in cooperation with the Department of English Language and Literature, organized an open lecture with Ph.D Peter Schadt on "Digital Capitalism, the Contradictions of Industrial Digitalization".
In the lecture, the contradictions of the digitalization process were extensively discussed including mentioning the growing interest of companies to digitize their production, the German state-owned Industry 4.0 program, and the role of work in digitalized capitalism.
There was no shortage of students' questions on the topic covered, making the meeting even more interactive.
