On the occasion of the declaration in 2024 as the "Year of the Albanian Language" by the Ministry of Education, the Department of English Language and Literature and the Research Center for Sustainable Development and Innovation organized a roundtable titled "Albanian in Bedër."
The Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Prof. Assoc. Dr. Rahim Ombashi, in his speech, highlighted the efforts to build the alphabet, standardize the Albanian language, and the current risks in its spelling.
Meanwhile, Prof. Assoc. Dr. Enriketa Sogutlu, Head of the Department of English Language and Literature, lectured on language and technology. She discussed the relationship between the Albanian language and technification. The discussions continued with Dr. Edona Llukaçaj, who spoke about the Albanian language and its translation into other languages, emphasizing the need for a translation tradition. Prof. Assoc. Dr. Zhuljeta Kadilli Daja discussed archaeology and toponymy.
Dr. Brikena Smajli focused her presentation on mythology and the Albanian language. Dr. Valmora Gogo, in her speech, addressed the spelling of the Albanian language by journalists. The references concluded with MSc. Alban Tufa, who focused on reducing discourse and the role literature plays in the development of discourse and language.
Finally, the Rector of Bedër University College, Prof. Dr. Gjergj Sinani, praised the work of the participants, emphasizing the role universities play in the development of language and culture. The roundtable ended with discussions and a Q&A session with students and participants.
