Description | A course that seeks to teach students the main elements of Modern British Culture and History | |||||||
Objectives | 1. To teach students the importance of class in understanding how English people think and behave. 2. To teach students the history of Britain from the end of the Roman occupation up to and including the Industrial Revolution. 3. To allow students to appreciate and understand how this history has made the society/ body politic that is in evidence in Britain today and how it has influenced the nature of British people. 4. To show students how British people interact and why they choose the forums and ways they do. 5. To encourage students to ask questions and draw conclusions about their own culture and compare it with British culture 6. To teach students the essence of Englishness. 7. To teach them what effect globalization has or hasn’t had on Englishness | |||||||
